The pandemic has caused a need to hit the pause button on a variety of events. Luckily, the Carpentersville Rotary's Raceway Woods 5K Challenge is not one of them.
The show will still go on, albeit in a different format in order to continue our goal of raising funds to cover the cost of new winter coats for local children in need.
This year’s event has been converted to a virtual 19K race/walk challenge which can be done all at one time or split over several days.
Walk/run at your own pace
Racers will have until Aug. 8 to complete the 19K.
The new format allows for people to participate at their convenience, whether it’s through their neighborhood, on a treadmill, or even at Raceway Woods, while maintaining social distancing guidelines.
Participants will receive a memorable award medal showing the coat they helped provide, as well as a reminder of their accomplishment.
Non-profit fundraiser for winter coats
Race proceeds raise money to support those in need within our community. The Rotary partners with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township, as well as Operation Warm to provide kids in need with winter coats each year. We typically raise enough money to provide over 300 winter coats each fall.
