ImageHaving the ability to read, like many other simple daily tasks, is something we take for granted. Going about our normal routine with no fear of the inability to comprehend any new task that may require any bit of reading . To a large number of people throughout the world this fear is an actuality and limits their potential because they have the inability or difficulty reading. The problem also becomes more difficult when a person who is illiterate in their native language and goes on to try and learn a new language. With the diversity of the surrounding local communities this continues to become a problem for a part of the population.   


This does not go without saying that the inability to read completely inhibits a person from accomplishing a lot.

The Elgin Literacy Connection has been around for close to 28 years and came to be because of the realization of the need to provide a literacy service for the growing diverse population. The Elgin Literacy Connection provides Literacy services and Tutoring for children and families who are in need of developing their reading and comprehension skills.
