Boys & Girls Club Youth of the Year

To be awarded as the Youth of the Year for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dundee Township says a lot about the individual that it is awarded to. The Youth of the Year is the premier youth recognition program for Club members which promotes and celebrates service to Club, community and family; academic performance; moral character; life goals; and poise and public speaking ability.This year Jasmine M. from Dundee Crown has received that honor and by doing so will compete for the chance at National Honors and a possible $15,000 in scholarship money. 

Jasmine will participate in the state competition. State winners will then participate in regional competitions. Five regional winners each receive an engraved plaque and a $5,000 scholarship and compete on the national level. The National Youth of the Year receives an additional $10,000 scholarship and is installed by the President of the United States.

From the brief time Jasmine spent with our club on Wednesday morning (April 18, 2012) it was easy to see and hear why Jasmine has received this honor. Weather it be her general consideration of others, willingness to give back, or overall outgoing personality (just to name a few!) she definitely has the mind set to succeed in life.
