What a successful event! The Rotary Club of Carpentersville-Morning Members showed up bright and early at the Carpentersville FISH Food Pantry Wednesday February 29th ready to work and the staff at the pantry was ready to put us work. Before we knew it we were stocking shelves, breaking down boxes, and sorting all of the donations. Soon after that we prepared to fill the family orders and eventually the assembly line began.

First meat, then dried goods and canned vegetables, then breads, snacks, and finish off with toiletry and cleaning items. They also offered children with birthdays gift boxes filled with cake mix, frosting, pudding mix, and other items to try and provide some type of birthday treat. The end result… a grocery cart full of items for the individual needy families to use and consume. In the end there were over 40 families served which is pretty amazing seeing as how the pantry does this 3 times a week.

Thank You to all the club members who donated and collected donations, the staff at Express Employment Professionals for their gracious donation, and our extra volunteers Pat Krenz and Mike Fellow for their help. In all we were able to collect and donate close to 1,000 toiletry items, throughout the month of February, which are still trickling in and being donated.

The Carpentersville FISH Food Pantry takes donations all year round and will always welcome anyone willing to volunteer. Baby items and Pet Food is desperately needed as they do not have a direct donation source for these items and when they are in stock they are taken as fast as they are stocked. Feel free to pass the word along if you know of any one or any company willing to donate.
